Sealing rings on both sides work with the center sleeve and weld ferrules to create two controlled sealing interfaces rather than relying on a single contact surface. This helps maintain a consistent airtight connection as charge piping is exposed to pressure changes and vibration, while also giving assembled piping systems a clearer, more repeatable sealing arrangement for batch production and aftermarket kits.
The center sleeve and dual sealing rings allow limited movement between the two weld ferrules, helping accommodate vibration, thermal movement, and minor installation variation. Compared with a completely rigid joint, this can reduce continuous stress around welds and pipe ends in turbo, intercooler, and charge-pipe systems. The added movement also provides useful assembly tolerance for complete piping kits, reducing the need to rework pipe alignment when small positional differences occur.
